Joshua’s final achievement in securing a place within the US Collage
system was not something
that happened over night and an area of the process we became a lot more understanding
of as time
went on.
From start to finish this was a very long and lengthy process to go through

identified as a candidate then to actually be noticed by prospective collages,
followed by our
education in order to understand what ultimately is an operational system of
another country in
managing their athletic programs.

"My dream of playing soccer
at a high level and continuing my studies while meeting new people has now
eventuated thanks to the professionalism and promotional activities of NSR
Soccer Australia.
They made me believe in my playing skills and the staff gave me lots of
personal attention. Following selection through a series of trials and personal
interview, a whole series of steps was followed by NSR that led me to being
successful in reaching my goal. The video filming of me playing soccer in
my team and the edited highlights and final website created were all very
professional. Once these materials went live, I started to get emails from
various US universities and the team at NSR were always there at the end

of coaches’ nationwide then check out your talent, if they
like what they see they get in contact with you. From there on it’s all

"NSR soccer Australia strives
to help all athletes accomplish their goal in making it into a US college.
NSR is a very professional organisation and said that many colleges would
be interested in me and as soon as NSR sent letters out to colleges I got
over 40 responses. The quality of NSR service is was great, I didn’t
have any contacts with US colleges before I went to NSR. But as soon as I
became involved in NSR colleges wanted to talk to me because of how professionals
NSR services are. NSR sends a professional photographer to come film
your game and make a film for you to send to all the colleges. Also they
set up a great website for me with all your vital information that the colleges
need.
The process that was involved to be able to apply for college was firstly, a
very intense try out with a lot of possession and game play. Next you went for
an interview where you had to bring all your school grades in for NSR to check
out and see if you have a good enough GPA to be able to attend college. If
you were successful in both the try out and the interview you were now eligible
you go to college. NSR assisted with a lot of the work when talking to the colleges,
they would send emails to all the colleges and also come in contact with many
coaches to tell them about you. NSR also helps a lot when speaking to the colleges
by email and also on the phone. They told me what kind of things to talk to the
coaches about and if I had any problems they would help solve it.
After a lot of talking to many colleges, I was offered
a 12,000 scholarship to Pikeville College which isn’t
only a great sports school but has a great academic
program offered as well. I would like to thank NSR
for all their support and help while I was finding
a college that fitted me and I wouldn’t have
made it to college" with out NSR

"The opportunity to study internationally and advance
my soccer skills has come to life through the NSR
Soccer Australia program. It’s fair to say
this would never have happened if I had tried to
do it on my own. After my website went live and I
started receiving enquiries from coaches in the US
it was great to have the NSR team to lean on for
advice. At this time it was all a bit crazy and sometimes
hard to keep a cool head and stay focused on the
ultimate goal. That is to make the best decision
about which college to commit to.
That’s not easy when there are so many choices and you can’t just
pop over to check them all out in person. When we finally chose a college there
was still the student visa and embassy interview to be done and again NSR were
on hand for advice and guidance.
In my case, I decided on a small NAIA private college
in Mississippi and who have been very successful
in the last couple of years. This particular college
operates a trimester system so I started my studies
in the Spring (February - May). The classes are small
and the teaching staff are caring and helpful. The
women’s soccer
team is huge and to get game time in the Fall (August)
I will have to be super fit and really on my game.
It’s
a very competitive environment and this is pushing
me to become a much better athlete. It’s
been great to have a couple of other internationals
in the
team but really everyone has been great. I’ve
done some traveling already with the team and have
seen a few new places in the US which is another
wonderful
part of the experience. I’m home now
for the summer holidays and am looking forward to
returning soon and playing soccer at a level much
higher than I imagined.

"My son, Matthew James Baker, is preparing to leave
for the United States of America to attend Delta
State University. This was made possible when he
secured an athletic scholarship to play soccer for
DSU.
Matthew was recruited in 2007 by the National Scouting
Report’s Melbourne office, and we have worked

For anyone contemplating taking this direction with
their sporting/academic career, a word of warning – be
prepared. There are many emails to be read and sent,
many college websites to search and numerous international
