Brianna Palmer will be living the dream of many when she jets off to the United States on a college scholarship for her football. Palmer, who will be leaving in about eight weeks' time, will not only be playing college football but will also study teaching. Two budding Port Stephens soccer champions have secured an opportunity to live and study abroad.
Amanda Carney, 19, of Raymond Terrace, and Alex Ward, 18, of Corlette, have been chosen as part of a program that enables skilled soccer athletes to travel to play soccer and study at American community colleges.
The pair will be among only six other representatives selected from more than 100 short-listed candidates.
